What is the Kinetico HYDRO® ECO™?
The Kinetico HYDRO® ECO™ is Kinetico's first tankless reverse osmosis system, designed to provide an advanced level of contaminant protection, directly from your tap. With a 75% smaller footprint than conventional tank-based systems, multicolor LED lighting, and built-in leak detection, the HYDRO® ECO™ provides continuous reverse osmosis water, while also providing continuous peace of mind.
What does it do?
Aside from a space-saving design and multi-level contaminant reduction, the HYDRO® ECO™ was designed with the consumer at mind. It can greatly reduce the following from your water supply:
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) - such as industrial solvents, fuel byproducts, and chemicals that can affect taste, odor, and safety.
- Chlorine and chloramine - improving taste and odor.
- Dissolved solids - including salts and minerals that impact water quality.
- Common contaminants - such as lead, cysts, and other impurities often found in municipal water supplies.
How does it work?
The HYDRO® ECO™ features a tankless design, meaning that the water runs directly through the system's filtration and right to you, immediately. This also helps to save space, eliminating the need for a storage tank that holds reserve filtered water. Going tankless also eliminates the risk of "running out" of filtered water during busier times of use. While this is extremely uncommon with Kinetico systems, the peace of mind goes a long way. The LED indicators on both the system and sink, and the audible alert system help to keep you informed on the status of your system at all times, and the HYDRO ECO's quick-change filters make maintenance an easy process.
What is Reverse Osmosis & How Does It Work?
Reverse osmosis, or RO, is a water treatment process in which water passes through a semipermeable membrane. Reverse osmosis is known for producing great-tasting pure water and being highly effective for contaminant removal. With many homes in the Greater Cleveland area relying on municipally-supplied tap water, this is one of the most effective ways to provide yourself and your family with water that is above the standard.
Reverse osmosis technology relies on pressure to push the water molecules through the membrane. Water pressure varies by water source. City water is supplied between 40 and 100 psi (pounds per square inch). Well water is delivered between 20 and 60 psi, depending on your pump. The production rate of the reverse osmosis membrane is dependent on factors such as temperature, pressure and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels. Since reverse osmosis works slowly, most RO systems include a storage tank that collects treated water. This feature is included so you can fill your glass or pitcher with clean water whenever you want it.
Because reverse osmosis water is so pure, it can pick up bad tastes and odors from the storage tank’s bladder or walls if it is stored for long periods of time. Running the water through a postfilter once it leaves the storage tank will remove residual tastes or odors before the water is dispensed. for more than 90 contaminants that can be found in water.
